Professor Michele Vacca

Dr Vacca has a track record in systemic/hepatic/cancer metabolism and pathophysiology in the context of obesity/NASH/HCC with expertise in pre-clinical and translational studies, functional genomics, and systems biology. In the last years, he has made significant accomplishments in the field of obesity/lipotoxicity as drivers of cell/tissue damage, inflammation and hepatic cancer, as well as in describing the rewiring of cellular metabolism in cancer.  Most of his findings have great translational potential for obesity-associated complications including cancer, and have been published in highly reputed journals including Nature Metabolism, Gastroenterology, J Hepatology, Hepatology, Cardiovascular Research, Molecular Metabolism and BBA. MV has published 57 research papers for a total IF over 500, a personal H-index of 25. His scientific contributions have been recognised by invitations to present his work at leading institutions in Europe, and as speaker and/or chairman at national/international conferences (e.g. EASD/EASL/BASL).
