One In Ten
1 in 10 people will experience problems with their liver at some point in their life.
Help us FIGHT liver disease.
The Foundation for Liver Research has set up a new Small Grants Scheme in memory of the late Professor Roger Williams CBE (1931-2020). This scheme is open to any applicant in the UK.
The 2024 call for applications will be issued in Spring 2024.
The aim of this translational research scheme is to support experimental studies in the following key areas of liver disease:
(1) Improved understanding of the pathogenesis of liver disease
(2) Development of accurate tests for early diagnosis
(3) Accelerated translation of research discoveries from bench-to-bedside
(4) Prevention of liver disease through early risk identification and promotion of lifestyle and protective measures including vaccination
This pump-priming award is intended to support acquisition of preliminary data leading to an application to a Research Council or similar funding body for a programme grant/fellowship award. The overarching purpose of this scheme is to enable translational research to benefit liver disease patients.
Outline of the Small Grants Scheme
The first call for the Small Grants Scheme 2024 will be announced in Spring 2024.
We aim to notify successful applicants in June for a start date from 1 July.
