Lancet Commission into Liver Disease in the UK

The Foundation for Liver Research has been working closely with the Lancet Commission into Liver Disease in the UK since the Commission was established in 2013. In 2014 the Commission published its first report which listed 10 key recommendations for the improment of diagnosis, care and availability of services for liver patients as well as measures to tackle the growing rates of liver disease in the UK.

In November 2015 the Commission published a follow-up report with details on implementation of the 10 key recommendations.

Two further reports have been published, in 2016 and 2017, based on metrics which will be used year on year to measure progress in awareness and prevention of liver disease and its major causes, better diagnosis and care of liver disease and equity of availability of services.

The Commission has also published a report on the Financial Case for Action on Liver Disease in the UK.

In July 2018 the Commission published a further report entitled: Understanding the Importance of 'Living Well for Longer'.
