The Foundation is unable to accept any funding applications at present as it is devoting all resources to establishing new research groups within the Institute of Hepatology.  Any future calls for research proposals will be advertised on this site so please do bookmark this page and visit us again.

PANCREATIC AND BILE DUCT CANCER, TUMOUR MARKERS
AND PHOTODYNAMIC THERAPY

The Foundation for Liver Research is soliciting original, focused and innovative research grant applications for a clinical research project within the area of pancreatic and bile duct cancer, tumour markers and photodynamic therapy.  Funding is available for five years to meet the cost of 5 sessions per week of a senior lecturer/consultant physician to lead a research group based within the Institute of Hepatology, UCL, which will work closely with the clinical service at UCL Hospitals NHS Trust.

All applications for grant funding should clearly state research goals, setting out the possible development of the planned programme of research, the rationale and a brief background. Successful applications will be funded for a five year period.
Applications should be submitted to the Medical Director of the Foundation and will be assessed by independent peer review. Applicants will be notified of the decision of the Trustees within 6-8 weeks of the date of receipt of an application.

ALCOHOLIC LIVER DISEASE: VASCULAR DYSFUNCTION

The Foundation for Liver Research is soliciting original, focused and innovative research grant applications for a clinical research project within the area of Alcoholic Liver Disease: Vascular Dysfunction.

Applications will be considered for funding of a research assistant and laboratory consumables up to a maximum of £50,000 for a twelve month period. Priority will be given to projects which would involve collaborative research with laboratories in the UK working in basic science.

All applications for grant funding should clearly state research goals, rationale, brief background and brief experimental protocol. Successful applications will be funded for one year in the first instance and applications should clearly set out the possible development of the project over a second year.

Applications should be submitted to the Medical Director of the Foundation and will be assessed by independent peer review. Applicants will be notified of the decision of the Trustees within 6-8 weeks of the date of receipt of an application.

FATTY LIVER DISEASE AND BARIATRIC SURGERY

The Foundation for Liver Research is soliciting original, focused and innovative research grant applications for a clinical research project within the area of Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease and the use of Bariatric Surgery in Treatment.

Applications will be considered for sessional or consumable funding up to a maximum of £30,000 for a twelve month period. An award may also include additional consumable funding of up to £10,000 for the same period. Priority will be given to applicants currently holding consultant level appointments in hospital and academic centres in the UK and for projects which would involve collaborative research with laboratories in the UK working in basic science.

All applications for grant funding should clearly state research goals, rationale, brief background and brief experimental protocol. Successful applications will be funded for one year in the first instance and applications should clearly set out the possible development of the project over a second year.

Applications should be submitted to the Medical Director of the Foundation and will be assessed by independent peer review. Applicants will be notified of the decision of the Trustees within 6-8 weeks of the date of receipt of an application.
