Applying for Funding from the Foundation for Liver Research

The Foundation for Liver Research welcomes applications from individuals involved in programmes of postgraduate research within the field of liver disease, particularly where applicants are currently working in hospital and academic centres in the UK. Priority will be given to possible projects which involve collaborative research with the Institute of Hepatology, UCL and multi-centre collaborations with other liver centres in the UK and abroad.

Applications may be made at any time and sent to Professor Roger Williams, CBE, The Institute of Hepatology, 69 – 75 Chenies Mews, London WC1E 6HX. Applications should include narrative details of the intended research project together with a breakdown of planned expenditure up to a maximum award of £10,000 (downloadable form). Applications will be considered by the Medical Director who will seek peer review as appropriate and a decision will be made at quarterly meetings of the Board of Trustees. Applicants will be notified within two weeks of the Board’s decision.

The Foundation is a member of the Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC) and adheres to the AMRC’s guidelines on funding research. These guidelines include a process of peer review in the consideration of grant applications in order to ensure that applications are appropriately assessed by relevant experts.
